Quartzite Countertops in Waukesha
The look of marble with far more durability. Natural quartzite, laid out and cut on the slab you choose.
What quartzite is
Quartzite is a natural stone, formed when sandstone is put under heat and pressure deep in the earth. The result usually looks like marble, with soft whites, grays and dramatic veining, but it's much harder and handles heat and daily cooking well. Don't confuse it with quartz, which is engineered.
We fabricate and install quartzite countertops and islands for homes in Waukesha, Brookfield, Pewaukee, New Berlin and across Waukesha and Milwaukee counties. Quartzite veining often runs across the whole slab, so we plan the layout with you to keep the veins flowing across seams and waterfall edges.
Why people choose quartzite
- Marble-like veining with much more durability
- Very hard surface that resists scratches
- Handles heat well, though we still recommend a trivet
- Most quartzites hold up outdoors. Ask us about your slab.
- Dramatic veining that suits large islands and waterfall ends
Keep in mind
- It usually sits at the higher end of the price range.
- It needs sealing, like granite. We seal it at install.
- Hardness varies. Some stones sold as quartzite are softer and closer to marble, so ask us about the specific slab before you commit.
Finishes
Quartzite is most often polished. Many slabs are also available honed or leathered, and a leathered finish suits busy kitchens because it hides fingerprints and fine marks.

What's the difference between quartzite and quartz?
Quartzite is natural stone cut from a quarry. Quartz is engineered from crushed quartz and resin. Quartzite handles heat better and every slab is unique; quartz needs no sealing and has a consistent look.
Does quartzite etch like marble?
True quartzite resists etching from lemon juice and wine much better than marble. Some stones sold as quartzite are softer and can etch, so we'll tell you which kind your slab is before you buy.
Why does quartzite cost more?
It's harder to quarry and cut, and many of the most popular colors are in high demand. Price depends on the specific slab, so we confirm it once you pick one.
